Train the drop.
Anywhere.

Practise catching a wave and getting to your feet on a surf simulator. More chances to prepare for your next session in the ocean.

Surfing gives you seconds to learn.
DropIn gives you the chance to try again.

In the ocean, you wait for the next wave. On DropIn, you practise the take-off again and again: the seconds that decide the ride.

Practise without line-up pressure.

Your wave. Your time. Your pace.

  • No competing for a wave.
  • No next set about to break.
  • Space to focus on the movement.

Make mistakes, repeat an attempt and work at your own pace.

Be among the first to ride

From the lab to your next wave.

Developed through five years of research at USC, the working prototype brings a real board and a responsive motion platform together. We’re now preparing for early riding sessions. The film shows the intended DropIn experience, including coaching in development.

“I am now an intermediate surfer and basically learnt surfing on the simulator in a few weeks.”

Feel the wave. Find your feet.

01

Paddle in

Get into position on the wave and paddle hard to catch it.

02

Nail the take-off

Feel the tail lift as the board starts to move, then pop up to your feet.

03

Ride the wave

Drop down the face and shift your weight to carve along the wall.

Practise more. Know what to change.

  • Every attempt measured.

DropIn captures each take-off and ride, from your last paddle strokes to your first turn.

  • Know what to change.

In the ocean, you rarely know why a take-off failed. DropIn shows you what to adjust while the last attempt is still fresh.

  • See your progress.

Track how your take-off improves across sessions, and get your next focus based on how you actually surf.

More people surfing. More often. Wherever they live.

Between surf trips, there’s a lot of life. We’re building a way to keep surfing part of it.

Lisa Leinert in the ocean

Built by researchers. Started by a surfer.

A surfer who knows how hard it is to progress between trips. Lisa has worked for a decade across strategy consulting and commodity trading in wave-deprived cities like Zurich, London and Hong Kong — and has a PhD as an economist from ETH Zurich. She founded DropIn to turn university-developed surf simulation technology into a training experience that helps more people find their feet on a wave.

Can I book a session now?

We’re preparing for early sessions. Join the list to register your interest; we’ll contact you when an opportunity is available.

Where will sessions take place?

We’re starting in Los Angeles, with more cities to follow.

What experience do I need?

None. DropIn is built so you can learn the take-off from scratch and keep refining it as you progress.

Is personalised coaching available?

Personalised coaching is in development. We’ll explain the features available for each early session.

Does DropIn replace surfing in the ocean?

No. DropIn gives you extra practice on land. It complements your time in the ocean, so you get more out of every session in the water.
